About the founder:

I grew up in Sweden and started my career with babies at an early age. At 7 I had my first baby-sitting job. If anyone in the neighborhood had a baby, I was there - asking questions, changing diapers and taking the baby for a walk. When it came time to choosing a career it was a pretty easy choice (although I did consider becoming a mechanic!)

I went to nursing school and specialized in sick children. After school, I worked in the maternity ward at a large hospital in Stockholm, which was also the same hospital at which I was born. At one point, I decided to do a little traveling and ended up in Texas as a nanny where I took care of newborn twins for a year and a half and then went back to Sweden. In Sweden I got a job at a pediatric intensive care unit and took care of children ranging from the tiniest preemie to a 10 year old. It was an interesting job and I learned a lot but America was calling me back.

I started working as a baby nurse which is a wonderful job where you help parents get comfortable with the new baby by helping breastfeeding, bathing, schedules and most of all, giving mom a chance to get some rest. I also inform parents of great, practical products on the market. I realized how much unnecessary stuff there is out there. One of the hardest things was finding good baby clothes. So....

A few years ago I started thinking about designing my own line of clothes. I wanted to create something new and fresh with a focus on fitting well. I measured every baby I came into contact with while I worked as a baby nurse and asked parents which features or clothes they liked best. Then I found someone to sew MY clothes and refine the designs.

Babies come into this world with skinny limbs and wobbly heads. Most baby clothes are as wide as they are long, the feet are too short, the necks are too big or too small and the tags are sharp and plentiful. The baby gets lost in all the material and usually ends up with 2 feet in one leg or an arm sticking out of the neck opening. At 3am the baby's diaper has slid down to the knees and leaked everywhere and you can't figure out which snap goes where. Familiar?

Baby clothes should be comfortable, easy to use and also fit well. ingeling clothes are a combination of that. The results are on these pages. All of our clothes are made of 100% cotton sewn with smooth flatlock seams. No scratchy appliqué's or prints. Slimmer designs keep arms and legs in place. A leg zipper instead of snaps for diaper changes- perfect!

A large crotch piece that stretches with your baby and gives a better fit. It also helps in keeping the diaper in place which means-less leaks. Yeah! Large openings to help make dressing and changing easier. Waistbands have been measured carefully to be just right. Not too tight nor to loose. All feet are slim and long to stay in place and leave room for little toes to wiggle.

Soft ,stretchy cuffs to hold sleeves and legs in place and allow for more growing room. A stretchy blanket that makes it easier to swaddle your baby and also allows the baby to move. Only 1 soft tag in each piece for comfort. The text is woven into the tag so it won't wash off.

A pair of classic "kickpants" that keep little tummies warm and feet covered no matter how much the baby kicks. Kimono style shirts with snaps instead of bulky ties. The perfect baby hat- a pilot cap with ties. Every Swedish baby has one. It stay on and keeps baby's ears covered.

Smart solutions and a great fit makes handling and changing your baby easier. Comfort combined with design is what ingeling baby clothes are all about.

Try them out. Let me know what you think. Send me a picture.
